Casey Thompson’s career at Alba & Yochim, P.A began while preparing for the Bar exam. While working for Karen Yochim, Casey began to gain experience in, and found his calling in family law and probate, including areas of divorce, child support, time-sharing, wills and probate administration. In April of 2017 Casey was admitted to the bar and, based on his excellent past work and academics, was promoted to Associate at Alba & Yochim.

Casey is a native of Cape Coral, Florida and attended undergraduate school at the University of South Florida. Casey’s early interest in the criminal law inspired him to pursue a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science with a minor in International Studies. He was continuously engaged throughout his undergraduate career including participation in the Honors College, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of Tampa along with Meals on Wheels, and researching and defending his thesis on statistical analysis.

Casey went onto study law at the Fredric G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. There he was active in both UF’s Journal of Technology Law and Policy as well as serving as a teaching assistant in legal writing and appellate advocacy. Casey’s interest in technology law drove him to author an article on the state and federal regulation of drones and its impact on privacy. During his time at UF Law, Casey was also an active volunteer with both the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank and Alachua Humane Society.

Casey’s passion for providing legal services to all, including those of lower economic status, led to his choice to intern at The Florida Institutional Legal Services (FILS) and then the Marion County Public Defender’s office. During his time at FILS, he performed legal research and drafted legal memos to assist with aiding people currently incarcerated. At the Marion County Public Defender’s Office he interned in the felony department where he assisted in criminal law by performing legal research, drafting memos, and aided attorneys preparing for trial.

When not practicing law, Casey lives in Gainesville with his fiancée and their pets. He often enjoys hiking with his dogs and trail running. He is an avid sports fan–both professional and college. His other hobbies include computer technology, music, and political commentary.
